
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 16: A team from the Zilla Parishad South Andaman, led by the Adhyaksh Mr. Prakash Adhikari, undertook an official tour to Little Andaman from 11th to 13th September 2025, He was accompanied by Mr. Boominathan, Up Adhyaksh, Mr. L. Gandi, EE, ZPSA and other technical functionaries of ZPSA
The Adhyaksh, ZPSA, inaugurated and dedicated the Community Hall with stage at V.K Pur, Little Andaman, a facility with sitting capacity of about 250 persons, built with an estimated cost of Rs. 97.50 lakh by the Zilla Parishad South Andaman. The facility is located at a distance of about 22 KM from the main Bazar at Hutbay. With the inauguration of the facility, a long pending demand of the population of the region has been met. The inauguration witnessed colorful cultural programme by the school children and the village youth which was well appreciated by the gathering. The Inauguration was witnessed by Mr. S.Parmanathan, Pramukh of PS Little Andaman, Mr. Asamanja Halder, ZPM R.K Pur, Mr. Sunil Kumar, IFS, DFO, Little Andaman Mr. Parimal Chandra Mondal, Pradhan, V.K Pur, Mr. S.Raja, Up- Pramukh, PS Little Andaman, other PRI members, local officers and general public.
These initiatives are part of the Zilla Parishad’s broader mission to improve public infrastructure and uplift community welfare in the remotest corners of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. As part of the visit, the team also inspected all ongoing works and upcoming developmental works in the area.
A special interaction session was held with the PRI members and the local heads of Govt. departments at Panchayat Samiti, Little Andaman on 12th Sept. 2025 Various suggestions and proposals for the holistic development of the region were deliberated upon, and it was unanimously resolved to work in coordination to achieve sustainable progress for the area.
The team also visited Chidambaram Park at Hutbay along with the DFO, Pramukh of PS, Little Andaman, Mr. Vasudevan Nair, ZPM and Mr. Rudra Moorthy Pradhan, GP, Hutbay on 13th Sept. 2025. The DFO was requested to construct two eco-friendly huts at the park and to provide botanical name plates to the plants. The DFO assured to look into the feasibility of the same.
The visit underscores the Zilla Parishad’s continued commitment to inclusive development, community engagement, and responsive governance across South Andaman and its remote island territories.
