Chainpur, Sept 10: On behalf of Gram Panchayat Chainpur (Middle Andaman), the Pradhan, Mr. Johnson Kerketta, has submitted an official representation to the Branch Manager of State Bank of India, Mayabunder, requesting the immediate installation of an SBI ATM at Tugapur Junction.
The letter highlights that residents of Gram Panchayat Chainpur (population around 4,500) and Gram Panchayat Pahalgaon (population around 7,000) currently have to travel either 24 km to Mayabunder or 19 km to Lucknow (North Andaman) to withdraw money. This causes great inconvenience to the people and results in unnecessary loss of time.
Tugapur Junction is a central hub and the main stoppage point for long-distance buses. Several important government offices and institutions are located in and around this area, including APWD, Electricity Department, Forest Department, Wildlife Department, PHC Tugapur, Anganwadi Centre, Senior Secondary School Pahalgaon, VKV School Pahalgaon, Agriculture Depot, and Police Chowki Rest Camp. Staff of these offices, along with the local residents, face significant difficulties due to the lack of ATM facilities.
The letter further mentions that if an SBI ATM is installed at Tugapur Junction, it will provide great relief to the general public, students, government staff, and travelers, as they will have convenient access to banking services.
Gram Panchayat Chainpur has earnestly appealed to the bank authorities to consider this longstanding demand at the earliest, assuring that such an initiative will be of immense benefit to the local population.
