Port Blair, Apr 22: An eight days Awareness Generation Programme was organized by the Mahila Mandal, School line Ranchi Colony which started today at the Community Hall, Ranchi Colony, School Line Port Blair. Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chairperson, A&N State Co-operative Union, Port Blair inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp on the occasion. Mrs. Ratna Kannan, Chairperson, A&N Social Welfare Board, Port Blair presided over the camp. The camp will continue till 29th April’ 2013 and during the period, the resource persons from various Govt. departments will interact with the participants.
Addressing the Women–folk, who gathered in large numbers, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma advised the participants to avail benefit from the Govt. Departments. He informed the participants that the experts/Resource person from various departments will deliver speech on the scheme being implemented by their department. Further he assured the women that he will look after the problem being faced by the women of that area.
The Chief Guest appreciated the A&N State Social Welfare Board for organizing Awareness Camp through the Mahila Mandal, School Line, Ranchi Colony.
In her address on the occasion, the Chairperson, A&N SWB, Mrs. Ratna Kannan said that this Awareness Generation Programme has been sanctioned by the Board so as to bring the women folk under one umbrella by conducting camps and important informations/Govt. schemes can be communicated to them for their benefit. She appealed to the women-folk to come forward in undertaking the programmes available for their development and get benefited. She advised the participants to form Self help groups and run their own venture through which they can earn money to maintain their family. She gave more importance to self employment.
Mrs. S. Rani Pande, Secretary, A&N Social Welfare Board enlightened the gathering about the role of women in the society. Earlier, Mrs. Sumari Devi, President, Mahila Mandal, Ranchi Colony welcomed the Chief Guest and others present on the occasion.
