Port Blair, Apr 21: In a major accident three people sustained serious injuries when a Maruti 800 car hit a bike, head on, infront of Syndicate Bank, Mohanpura last night. According to eye witnesses the Maruti 800 car had earlier hit a Scooty infront of Gandhi Bhawan and then after crossing Light House junction the car, went to the right side of the road and hit the bike.
After hitting the bike the car hit the steel railing and fell into the PBMC drain. Both the person sitting inside the car Mr. Sunil (Driver) and Mr. Emanuel Victor (Sweeper in DSS) sustained injuries. The bike rider, who is working in IRBn also sustained major injuries.
All injured people were immediately rushed to G B Pant Hospital, where they are presently undergoing treatment. According to sources both the persons inside the car were, under heavy influence of liquor. Further investigation is going on. However, it has been learnt that police have filed a case against both the persons, who were inside the car, under sections 279 and 338 of IPC.
