Port Blair, Apr 21: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, once again targeted Administration and accused the Administration of spending public money for unwanted reasons.
Addressing a press conference at Port Blair on Friday, the MP said that that during Mr. Atal Bihari Vajyaypee’s tenure our country witnessed construction of about four lakh kilometers of road under PMGSY.
He further added that in Andaman and Nicobar Islands after the year 2004 no new rural roads were constructed. Pinpointing the black holes in the administration he informed that the funds from PMGSY were used to buy computers and other peripherals.
Another issue during the conference was on the money spent by the Administration on court cases speaking on this issue Mr. Ray informed that the Administration has spent about two crore rupees from the Plan Fund of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on court cases in Supreme Court of India.
Mr. Ray further added that he will again try to call a calling attention motion in the ongoing session in which the issue will be about the Andaman Trunk Road, PAT Regulations, Buffer Zone and Jarawa Reserve, which he said will destroy Andaman and Nicobar Islands one day.
MP also raised the issue of the Medicines procurement issue in which he said presently we are buying medicines of low quality at about 80 % commission.
He also raised the issue of the appointment of two BDS doctors from mainland instead of availability of qualified and experienced BDS Doctors willing to work with the health department.
