Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 03: In a significant citizen outreach initiative, the District Administration, South Andaman organized a Camp Court at Guptapara Community Hall on 02/08/2025, which witnessed the enthusiastic participation of local residents. The camp was graced by Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Additional District Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS emphasized the vital importance of updating tenant land records and encouraged the public to take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, facilitated through the Electricity Department. He called upon the residents to keep their documents in order to avail the full benefits of government schemes.
During the camp, Revenue Department officials actively processed pending mutation applications, informed applicants about the status of their cases and assured issuance of notices as per laid-down procedures.
The event also featured an informative session on the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana led by Mrs. Rizwana, Executive Engineer (Electricity), who explained the scheme’s features and benefits. Mr. Prakash Adhikari, Adhyaksh, South Andaman, also spoke on ongoing development initiatives in Guptapara, Wandoor, Manglutan, Humfreygunj and Phongi Baalu, reinforcing the Administration’s focus on inclusive regional development. The camp proved to be a successful convergence of public service delivery and awareness generation.
In a similar stride towards community empowerment and sustainable development, an awareness camp under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was also organized at Gram Panchayat Calicut, which saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, PRI members and government officials. The event was graced by Mr. Thomas Varghese, Tehsildar, Sri Vijaya Puram, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Calicut, Assistant Engineer (NRSE Division) and other key stakeholders, who reiterated the government’s focus on promoting clean energy adoption at the grassroots level.
The NRSE team conducted a detailed presentation highlighting the scheme’s key features, including available subsidies, simplified application procedures and long-term benefits of rooftop solar installations. Citizens were guided through the online registration process, with many availing on-the-spot registration assistance. As part of the integrated outreach, a Revenue Camp was also held wherein seven out of nine mutation cases were disposed of and land revenue collected from several individuals. Additionally, old-age pension forms were verified by concerned officials, offering a comprehensive range of services under one roof.
The District Administration’s sustained efforts to deliver multi-departmental services through such camps have been widely appreciated by the community. These initiatives continue to play a vital role in enhancing transparency, citizen awareness and participatory governance across the South Andaman District.
