Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 01: As a part of celebration of 76th Van Mahotsav on theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Botanical Survey of India, organized plantation programme in Dhanikhari Experimental Garden-cum-Arboretum on 31.07.2025 to mark the closing ceremony in the gracious presence of Mr. Devender Yadav, Airport Director, Veer Savarkar International Airport, Airport Authority of India, Sri Vijaya Puram and Padmashree Awardee Mr. Naresh Chander Lal.
The programme begins with a tree plantation drive with planting of endemic nicobari mango species by Special Guest Mr. Devender Yadav. Special guests along with dignitaries visited various conservatory sections and appreciated efforts of BSI towards sustainable biodiversity.
Along with the special guest Airport Director, other dignitaries including officials from AAI and local residents’ scientists and staff of this office enthusiastically planted saplings of fruiting tree species.
The programme was initiated with a welcome address by Addl. Director & Regional Head, Dr. Lal Singh. Dr. Singh briefed about the plant diversity of the Islands and role of BSI in survey, documentation of plant wealth in these Islands and their conservation status
