Port Blair, Apr 15: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC in his letter addressed to the Administrator has requested him to provide a regular job to Mr. Subhendu Sengupta, the Cycling Coach of International famed cyclist Miss. Deborah and others.
In his letter of request Mr. Sharma wrote that recently Miss Deborah, SAI Trainee has brought three medals in Jr. Asian Cycling Championship making the Country proud of her. Prior to her, Miss B. Neeta also obtained 2 silver medals in 25th Senior and 12 Junior Asian Cycling Championship in 2005. Appreciating the success of Deborah and Neeta, Mr. Sharma stated that behind the achievements of these internationally famed local cyclists, there stands Mr. Subhendu, their coach, who has devoted his full force, time, and emotions with utmost sincerity and integrity to bring them in limelight. Mr. Sharma added that but still Mr. Subhendu remains ignored for the reasons not known.
Mr. Sharma informed the administrator that for a petty amount which he is getting as a temporary coach, he leaves no stone unturned to prepare local cyclists for National and International levels. Mr. Sharma has further stated that at his ripe age of about 45 years, he is still waiting for a permanent job under the A & N Administration.
Requesting to consider a permanent job for the Coach, Mr. Sharma wrote that during the tenure of the present Administrator, these islands have seen many talented local sports persons, as the Administrator has always taken care for their welfare and considered necessary infrastructures for them.
Mr. Sharma added that in the matter of Mr. Subhendu also a positive result can be hoped from the Administrator as a permanent and experienced Coach is very much necessary for the upcoming cyclists, preparing for big events. In this connection, Mr. Sharma had also enclosed a letter from Miss Debora, SAI Trainee, who has also given full credit of her achievements to her Coach Mr. Subhendu and requested a regular job for him.
