Diglipur, July 30: Amid the current rainy season, the condition of a rural road starting from Shri Nirmal Mistry house to Shri Kalipada Mondal house in Ward No. 05, Madhupur village under Diglipur Tehsil has significantly deteriorated, posing threat to the lives of the commuters.
According to information, the road is no longer motorable; in fact, the road has turned hazardous owing to the potholes and damages, lamented the residents of the area.
The residents of the locality further said that they have been making plea after plea to the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Madhupur for the last couple of years for the urgent recarpeting of the road. However, the road was not repaired even before the onset of the rainy season this year, the residents alleged.
Some residents expressed disappointment with the persistently poor condition of the road, which has remained unaddressed for a couple of years now. Despite the urgent need for road recarpeting, no required actions have been taken. Furthermore, no repair work was carried out by the executing agency i.e. GP Madhupur prior to the rainy season, ignoring the safety of commuters.
However, when contacted on phone to know the status of the work of the road in question, the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Madhupur told Andaman Sheekha Daily that the said rural road has reportedly got a sanction of required fund from the ministry under PMGSY part-3, and the road starting from Marich Tikrey to Shri Lakhan Biswas house in which stretch this part i.e. road starting from Shri Nirmal Mistry house to Shri Kalipada Mondal house in Ward No. 05, Madhupur falls will be reportedly repaired in the coming dry season.
“The concerned Department should construct or repair the road which is in utter dilapidated condition on a priority basis as lives are very precious”, the residents further urged.
