Port Blair, Apr 15: Hundreds of young kids filled with joy and enthusiasm thronged to the grounds of Govt Middle School Kanyapuram on Saturday 13 April 2013 to participate in the Children’s Festival organised by Malarvadi Children Circle, Andamans.
About 400 kids aged below 13 years participated in 20 unique and exciting events in a short span of 90 minutes. Fascinating events like rope walk, cross the bridge, commando walk, magic coin, shoot out, basket the ball, driving test, mirror walk, productive corner, market game, touch and identify, ring the bottle, memory jump, jumping jack, thread the needle and a live talent corner kept the kids on their toes.
Competitions were held in three categories – Sub Junior, Junior and Senior. Prizes were given to the top five participants who scored highest points in each category. Thirty consolation prizes were also given.
After the competition events, a gala cultural show was presented by small kids depicting various topical issues. A mime show on channel surfing on television and a dig on reality shows and various cultural forms like Oppana and Kolkali were presented by the kids which enthralled the audience.
Earlier, Ms. Mumtaz Bano, Programme Executive, All India Radio declared the meet open. PRI members from the area were also present on the occasion. M K Abdul Gafoor, Chief Coordinator welcomed the gathering and N Abdul Salam proposed vote of thanks.
