Sri Vijaya Puram, July 27: The BJP Karyakartas of Sri Vijayapuram District joined the nation in commemorating Kargil Vijay Diwas, marking India’s historic victory in the 1999 Kargil War. This significant day remembers the valiant soldiers who successfully repelled Pakistani intruders from the icy heights of Kargil, safeguarding our nation’s territorial integrity during Operation Vijay that lasted from May to July 1999.
The commemorative events were organized under the leadership of Jitendra Narayan, Incharge of Sri Vijayapuram, along with co-incharges Aziz-ur-Rehman and Padmanabham. The solemn ceremonies saw participation from prominent community leaders including Sheela Singh, K. Ram Das, Dr. R. Dev Das, Gaurav Gogia, Sher Singh, executive ward councilors Karunanidhi and Someshwar Rao, as well as former councilor Vinita Malhotra and N K Uday Kumar, who collectively paid homage to the nation’s martyrs.

These solemn ceremonies served as poignant reminders of the supreme sacrifices made by Indian soldiers in the treacherous terrain of Kargil, where they fought against all odds at altitudes exceeding 18,000 feet.
Addressing the gathering, Jitendra Narayan reflected on the historical significance of the Kargil conflict, noting how it stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Indian armed forces. “Twenty-five years ago, our brave soldiers scripted history in the snow-clad mountains of Kargil. Their extraordinary courage in the face of extreme adversity continues to inspire every Indian. As we remember heroes like Captain Vikram Batra and Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, we reaffirm our commitment to uphold the unity and sovereignty they fought to protect,” he said.
The event concluded with participants pledging to keep alive the memory of the Kargil heroes and their values of courage, sacrifice and patriotism. The gathering observed a moment of silence to honor all soldiers who have laid down their lives in service of the nation, with special remembrance for those who made the supreme sacrifice during the Kargil conflict.
