Sri Vijaya Puram, July 25: In the morning hours of 25th July, 2025, theForest officials of the Mannarghat Range, South Andaman division conducted a successful routine patrolling operation. The operation resulted in the detection and seizure of illegally sawn timber of Padauk with machineries & tools from Gaji Nallah near Madhuban in Mount Manipur National Park, South Andaman.
The operation was led by Mr. D.Sekhar, Forester along with Mr. John Chrysostham, Forest Guard , Mr. Ganesh Sahoo, Mazdoor, Mr. Paul ,Mazdoor and Mr. Vishal Minj, Mazdoor under the able guidance of Mr. M. Rasheed, Forest Ranger, South Andaman division. The team carried out an intensive search of the location and detected the illegally Padauk sawn timber.
The operation resulted in the seizure of illegally 49 pieces of sawn Padauk timber along with other machineries &tools used in the illegal activity. Two accused were arrested on the spot and handed over to the Wildlife Division, Sri Vijaya Puram.
