Sri Vijaya Puram, July 23: Mera Yuva Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram successfully organized an impactful plantation program titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” at Caddle Gunj village. The event aimed to promote environmental conservation while fostering an emotional bond between individuals and nature.
As part of the drive, about 100 saplings were planted at Jungli Mirch Farm, and in a unique gesture, each sapling bore the name of the participants’ mothers, symbolizing love, respect, and gratitude. The initiative saw the active involvement of 25 participants, reinforcing the message of personal responsibility for a greener planet.
The event was graced by Dr. T.K. Jijith Rekh, a modern farmer was the Guest of Honour, who also planted a tree during the ceremony. In his address, Dr. Rekh emphasized the emotional connect of the campaign, stating that dedicating a tree to one’s mother nurtures both the environment and family values.
Mr. Sukha Ranjan Biswas, Deputy Director (OSD), Mera Yuva Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram, also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the need for community-driven initiatives to tackle climate change. He urged the youth to take ownership in protecting natural resources and make tree plantation a personal commitment.
Earlier, Mr. Gopal Ch. Biswas, APA of Mera Yuva Bharat, welcomed the guests and later proposed the vote of thanks. The program was coordinated by Dr. Sunita Patil, Secretary of Andaman Mahila Mandal, ensuring smooth execution of activities.
The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign is designed to sensitize youth and the general public about the urgent need for environmental protection and conservation. Plantation drives, awareness programs, and IEC (Information, Education & Communication) activities will continue in a mission mode to create a sustainable and green ecosystem for future generations.
