Sri Vijaya Puram, July 23: In a significant crackdown on Illegal timber operations, forest officials of Garacharma Range seized illegal Padauk sawn timber. The Operation was conducted under the leadership of Mr. Shyam sunder Rao, Forester (Beat Officer, Bimblitan Beat) with the active support of team members Mr. P.Papa Rao, RM, Mr. Randhir Soreng, RM and Mr. Loganathan, Rm. The team detected 9 pcs of Padauk Sawn Timber measuring 0.109 Cbm from an under construction building at Old Bimblitan area under Bimblitan Village. One person was apprehended and a Forest Offence Case under various sections of Indian Forest Act, 1972 and Andaman and Nicobar Forest Transit Pass Rule, 1966 has been registered for illegal possession of sawn timber. Further investigation is on to trace the source of the illegal produce.
The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of the Range Officer, Garacharma Range. General Public are requested to share information on any illegal forest and wildlife produce on the help line number 03192-255228. Identity of the informants will be kept confidential.
