Port Blair, Apr 12: A meeting of the Private owners and operators of water sports equipments and service providers was held on 10th April 2013 at the Gandhi Bhavan to discuss various issues and bottlenecks being faced in developing and operating this trade which not only have large potential to develop tourism activities in these Islands but also is generating self employment opportunities for the local youths.
The general body took decision to form an association namely “Andaman and Nicobar Water Sports Operators Association” and also elected an adhoc Committee for effective functioning of the Association. Unanimously Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has been elected as President while Mr. Shaikh Farook Alam and Mr. M. Ummar as Vice Presidents. Mr. Gyan Prakash Krishna and Mr. Nazrul Islam were elected as General Secretaries while Mr. Abdul Nasir, Mr. M.S. Laxman, Mr. Chandra Shekar were elected as Organizing Secretaries. Mr. Mohd Shabbir, Mr. Rakib Mondal, Mr. Vijay Ganeshan were included as Jr. Secretaries while Mr. R Raja and Mr. C Nararaj have been elected as Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
Besides this Mr. Abdul Waseem, Mr. N Rajeshwar, Mr. Abdul Jameel, Mr. Rama Dass, Mr. Mohd Shageer, Mr. Bakibulla, Mr. Amir Mondal and Mr. V Ganeshan were included as Executive members.
