Port Blair, Apr 11: To pay homage to Dr. B. Srikanth, IPS, Superidentdent of Police, Nicobar District who passed away at Bishop John Richardson Hospital, Car Nicobar yesterday following a cardiac arrest, a condolence ceremony was solemnized today in the morning before his body was airlifted to his home town in Puducherry. The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM along with the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (i/c) and senior civil and police officers of the Administration laid wreaths. Farewell arms were presented by an armed contingent of A&N Police followed by observance of two minutes of silence in memory of the departed soul.
Dr. B. Srikanth, IPS was working as Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District since May 2012. He joined the Pondicherry Police Service on 15/02/1990 and inducted into IPS in the year 2005. He has served more than 23 years service in Police Department on various posts including a stint in Intelligence Bureau and was appreciated for his outstanding professional competence on every occasion. For his commendable service, Dr. B. Srikanth, IPS was awarded the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service on the occasion of Republic Day-2012.
