Sri Vijaya Puram, July 01: The Middle Andaman Forest Division, Rangat celebrated the inauguration ceremony of the 76th Van Mahotsava, 2025 a month long tree planting festival, with great enthusiasm and commitment to conserve the forests of this green island. The celebration was organized with a tree planting program under the aegis of “EK PED MAA KE NAAM. The event included an inaugural function & mass tree planting program in the premises of the Govt. Secondary School, Nimbutala on 01.07.2025 with the active participation of about 150 Nos. of school students, teachers, PRI Members and local Head of Offices. The program witnessed great zeal & enthusiasm with active participation by the participants thereby promoting environmental conservation and sustainability. The mass tree planting program was followed by a cultural program which included a welcome song presented by students of GSS, Nimbutala and a mime highlighting the importance of forests and ill effects of deforestation was also presented by the staff and workers of Bakultala Range.
The gathering was addressed by Mr. Siva Shakthi. B, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman Division, who highlighted the importance of forests and how to conserve it without depleting its natural resources.
Earlier in the program, the welcome address was delivered by Smti. R. Barkha, ACF (MA). Following this, all the special invitees were felicitated by the Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman, Rangat and were presented with mementos on the occasion. The vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Anil Saha, ACF (HQ).
