Port Blair, Apr 10: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is holding its 26th Convocation on Friday, the 12th April 2013. The President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee shall be the Chief Guest and deliver the 26th Convocation address of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on 12th April 2013 at the Convention Centre IGNOU Headquarters at Maidan Garhi.
Mr. Jatin Prasada, the Union Minister of State, HRD shall be the guest of honour.The Convocation will be simultaneously held at 48 Regional Centres through teleconferencing mode.At this convocation 158387 students all over India shall receive their Degree / Diploma & Certificates. At Regional Centre, Port Blair total of 189 students shall receive their Degree/Diploma/Certificates during the Convocation.
Mr. Anand Prakash, IAS, Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration shall be the Guest of Honour of the Convocation Ceremony at Port Blair. IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair enrolls approximately 2500 students in different programmes every year.
It has a network of 08 Learner Support Centres in the Region. The Regional Centre has been playing a key role in expanding opportunities of quality higher education in the Region, especially to the disadvantaged population.
