Sri Vijaya Puram, Jun 08:In an appeal to the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, the President of the A&N Teachers Association, Mr. Y. Sajeevan, has requested the rescheduling of the upcoming inter-island sailing of MV Campbell Bay, currently scheduled for June 24, 2025.
The plea, made via email to the Chief Secretary, highlights the severe inconvenience caused to teachers, students, and families across the Nicobar district due to the sailing being preponed by a week.
The letter mentioned that the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) recently announced that MV Campbell Bay will sail from Sri Vijaya Puram to Campbell Bay on June 24. However, this date falls one week ahead of the scheduled reopening of schools after the summer vacation. As many educators and families had planned their return journey based on the original school calendar, this change could significantly disrupt travel plans and affect the smooth functioning of educational institutions.
“The issue is not limited to teachers alone,” the email states, “but also to the families of students, as almost each and every household is connected to education.”
To address this concern, the A&N Teachers Association has requested either a revision of the sailing date to June 28 or the provision of a special sailing on that day. Mr. Sajeevan emphasized the broader public interest, noting that the well-being and logistical convenience of the education community must be prioritized.
