Nayapuram, June 4: A devastating fire broke out late last night in Nayapuram, completely reducing a wooden house to ashes. This morning, the charred remains of a human body were discovered at the site, and police now believe it to be that of Mr. Durga Prasad, the house’s owner.
According to local sources, Mr. Prasad was alone at home when the fire occurred. He was reportedly engaged in private work, while his wife was working at a nearby shop. Their three daughters were at a relative’s house, when this incident took place. Neighbours and villagers described Mr. Prasad as a habitual drinker, and some speculated that his intoxicated state might have contributed to the tragedy.
Late in the night, family members of the area and Pradhan of Kanyapuram, Mr. Basheer had searched for Mr. Prasad after noticing he was missing but Mr. Prasad could not be found.
