Sri Vijaya Puram, May 16: On the observance of World Thalassemia and Hemophilia Day, a comprehensive awareness programme was successfully conducted at Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair, for B.Ed. students. The theme of the session was: “Understanding Various Disabilities under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 – Towards an Inclusive Society.”
This initiative aimed to equip future educators with knowledge of the 21 benchmark disabilities recognized under the RPwD Act, including Thalassemia and Hemophilia, and empower them to foster an inclusive, supportive, and barrier-free learning environment.
The session was jointly facilitated by the team from Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, including:
Mr.T.Y.Abid, Lec in Physiotherapy about 21 bench mark disabilities under RPwD Act 2016 and Various Rehabilitation Courses recognized by Rehabilitation Council Of India and Mrs.Saranyah.R.K, Rehabilitation Officer about Roles of Educators towards Inclusive Society and Classroom accommodations.
The CRC team, extended their sincere gratitude to Dr. Manjulatha Rao, Principal, Tagore Government College of Education, for her gracious permission and support in hosting the session within the institution.
A special word of appreciation was also extended to Mrs. Sumithamol, Director, CRC A&N Islands, for her continued guidance and for providing the opportunity to conduct this vital awareness programme for aspiring educators. The event concluded with a strong message of inclusion, equality, and shared responsibility toward creating a society that truly leaves no one behind.
