Baratang, May 11: In a swift and strategic operation early Saturday morning, the Forest Department successfully captured a male crocodile measuring approximately 4 meters in length from the Uttara Jetty area in Kadamtala. The operation was led by the Quick Response Team (QRT) under the Kadamtala Forest Division.
According to reports, the same crocodile had been spotted multiple times in recent days near the main jetty, raising concerns for public safety.
Taking immediate action, the Forest Department deployed a 24-hour surveillance team. A specially designed trap cage was strategically placed near the jetty to capture the reptile without harm.
On Saturday morning, the team found the crocodile safely enclosed within the trap. The animal was then transported to Chidiyatapu Biological Park in South Andaman, where it will be kept under observation in a secure environment.
