Port Blair, Apr 04: The Suryachakra Power Corporation Pvt. Ltd., Bambooflat has intimated that only 5 MW Power will be available out of 20 MW DG sets w.e.f. 06.04.2013 due to shutting down of 10 MW capacity DG sets as they did not undertake timely overhauling of their DG sets.
“Hence there will be a shortage of about 4 MW capacity of power during peak hours. The department is trying level best to minimize the impact of this shortage. During evening hours rotational load shedding for minimum possible duration shall be carried out w.e.f. 06.04.2013,” a press release issued by the Superintending Engineer, Electricity said in a press-note today.
Hence the Administration has appealed to one and all, to consume electricity judiciously and stop indiscriminate use of energy-intensive equipments such as Air Conditioners, Electric heaters, Fridge, Geysers etc., especially during peak hours (05.00 PM to 10.00 PM) in order to restrict the peak demand so that the duration of the load shedding could be minimized to the maximum possible extent. Further, it is also requested to avoid use of decorative lightings in front of Houses, Shops and Govt. Buildings especially during the peak hours.
“All are requested to stand with the department to conserve energy as much as possible, enabling the department to serve them better,” the release added.
