Port Blair, Apr 4: Mrs. Rupa Ray, State Vice-President, BJP in her letter addressed to the Lt. Governor has informed him that after the tragic road accident in Swarajgram, Diglipur she along with other leaders and workers of the party reached Diglipur on 30.03.2013 and met the dependents of the deceased persons at their respective houses. She also informed that she met the injured persons in the hospitals.
Mrs. Ray in her letter kept some demands in front of the Lt. Governor for the kiths and kin’s of the deceased and the injured persons.
“The Ex-gratia relief of Rupees One Lakh to the next of kins of each deceased person @ Rs.l lakh from the LG’s Relief Fund and @ Rs.50, 000/- to the two critically injured persons, are quite insufficient to rehabilitate the ruined families. They may be assisted with all relief measures as well as reasonable compensation,” she said.
Giving example of a past incident of Crocodile attack at Manpur where Mrs. Chanda Mondal, W/o Mr.Deepak Mondal, R/o Manpur under Tusnabad Panchayat was killed, her next of kins were paid Rs.03 Lakhs from LG Relief Fund, which was deposited under Fixed Deposit in the name of her three children @ Rs.01 lakh each. Over and all, Rupees One Lakh paid by the Wild Life, Forest Department. She also demanded government job for one member of the victims’ family.
