Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 22:As a part of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India initiative, the District Administration, South Andaman is observing the Good Governance Week (Sushasan Saptah) campaign “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” from 19thDecember, 2024 to 24thDecember 2024 in which multiple events focused on bringing governance closer to the people shall be organized.
As a part of the campaign, grievance redressal camps were organized at Wimberlygunj Community Hall and Gram Panchayat, Govindanagar, Swarajdweep, respectively, addressing public grievances and providing government services at the doorstep of the citizens.
The camp was held at Wimberly gunj Community Hall under the chairmanship of Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman. The event was attended by Ms Mariyam Bibi, Mr. Umeer Zilla Parishad Member from Bambooflat Constituency, Ms Rasheeda, Pradhan, Hopetown and Pradhan, Manarghat and Up-Pradhan, Stewartgunj, Panchayat Samiti members and other PRI members. The workshop saw active participation from the general public and representatives of various government departments. The Assistant Commissioner gave a patient hearing to all grievances and directed the concerned departments to resolve the issues on a priority basis.
During the Good Governance Camp OBC certificates and orders for cutting of dangerous trees were issued to the general public by the Assistant Commissioner.
A separate meeting was subsequently held with the PRI members and line departments, where the issues raised by the PRIs were addressed and actions were instructed for redressal.
Similarly, a Camp Court was held at Gram Panchayat, Govindanagar, Swarajdweep chaired by Mr. Abhishek Gulia, Assistant Commissioner (Settlement) in the presence of Zilla Parishad members, Pradhans from Gram Panchayat, Govindanagar and Shyamnagar and other PRI members. Representatives from various line departments, including Revenue, Police, APWD, and Electricity, Medical, Fire service, Civil Supply, Veterinary Hospital attended the camp court, which drew a large gathering of residents.

During the Good Governance Camp, 04 certificates/documents, including Income certificate, Resident certificate, OBC and Local Certificate were issued. Mr. Thomas Varghese, Tehsildar, Mr. Vijaya Puram Ordered 01 Nos. mutation case and 01 Nos. surrender case on the spot, ensuring immediate relief to the public.
The week-long celebrations being conducted under the aegis of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision for Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore (Administration Towards Villages), emphasized transparency, accountability, and responsive governance.
The District Administration, South Andaman, reaffirms its commitment in addressing public grievances and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every corner of the district.
