Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 20: As a part of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India initiative, the District Administration, South Andaman, will observe the Good Governance Week (Sushasan Saptah) campaign “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” from 19th December, 2024 to 24th December 2024 in which multiple events focused on bringing governance closer to the people shall be organized.
As a part of the campaign, a District-level Workshop and a Camp Court were conducted at Chouldhari Community Hall and Calicut Community Hall, respectively, addressing public grievances and providing government services.
The District-level Workshop was held at the Chouldhari Community Hall under the chairmanship of Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, in the presence of Mrs. Pramila Kumari, Zilla Parishad Member of Chouldhari Constituency, Panchayat Samiti members, the Pradhan of Chouldhari Gram Panchayat, and other PRI members. The workshop saw active participation from the general public and representatives of various government departments. The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to all grievances and directed the concerned departments to resolve the issues on a priority basis.
During the Good Governance Camp, 11 certificates/documents, including income certificates, OBC certificates, OR reports, and record entries of mutation cases, were issued to the general public by the Deputy Commissioner.
Similarly, a Camp Court was held at the Community Hall in Calicut vllage by Ms. Anuja Trivedi, IAS (P), Assistant Commissioner (UT) in the presence of the Pradhan of Calicut Gram Panchayat and other PRI members. Representatives from various line departments, including Revenue, Police, APWD, and Electricity, attended the camp court, which drew a large gathering of residents.
The public presented their grievances, which included issues related to infrastructure, utilities, and developmental needs. Ms. Anuja Trivedi assured timely resolution of all concerns and instructed the respective departments to submit action-taken reports within 15 days.
During the camp court, certificates such as No Objection Certificates for developmental works, local certificates, and others were issued. Mr.. Thomas Varghese, Tehsildar, Sri Vijaya Puram who accompanied the Assistant Commissioner (UT), resolved two mutation cases on the spot, ensuring immediate relief to the public.
The week-long celebrations being conducted under the aegis of the Prime Minister’s vision for Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore (Administration Towards Villages), emphasized transparency, accountability, and responsive governance.
The District Administration, South Andaman, reaffirms its commitment in addressing public grievances and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every corner of the District.
