
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 20: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee Under the leadership of its President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhakser organized a massive protest on the 19th of December, 2024 against the Union Home Minister, Mr. Amit Shah, for his deeply offensive and disrespectful remarks made in Rajya Sabha on 17th December, 2024, about Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The protest began from the Congress Headquarters and proceeded to the Ambedkar Statue, where party members and supporters gathered to continue their demonstration. The participants raised slogans, and voiced their condemnation of the Union Home Minister’s remarks, emphasizing their demand for justice and accountability.
Addressing the gathering, many senior party leaders expressed their outrage, stating, “These remarks are not only an insult to the unparalleled legacy of one of India’s greatest leaders but also a grievous affront to crores of Indians who revere him as the architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of social justice. Such statements threaten the democratic principles and social harmony that Dr. Ambedkar stood for.”
The protestors unanimously demanded the immediate resignation of Amit Shah and a public apology for his offensive remarks. The leaders reiterated their commitment to upholding the values of equality, justice, and democracy that Dr. Ambedkar enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
The protest witnessed enthusiastic participation from party workers, leaders, and citizens, who showcased a united stand against any attempt to tarnish the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Several Senior Leaders of the Congress Party, AICC Members, Heads of Frontal Organization’s, Councilors and PRI Members were present in the protest.
