Port Blair, Mar 13: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has written a letter of request to the Lt Governor to consider introduction of a new stream viz Lab Technician in ITI at Dollygunj.
Advocating for this course Sharma has stated that this has come to his knowledge that many local students, due to non availability of facility in these islands to opt for lab technician training course, from such institutions at mainland which are not recognized and as a result they could not made themselves eligible for the vacant posts of lab technicians available in Government sectors either at mainland or at AN Islands, though vacancies of lab Technicians are available under AN Administration.
Thus those students, apart from spoiling their valuable time and hard earned money of their parents, feel themselves helpless. Sharma has also stated that during the present era of science and technology, the posts of lab Technicians have become a necessity and many students of these islands are interested to opt this course to make their future.
Hence Sharma has requested the Lt Governor to consider introduction of the course of lab Technician in ITI, Dollygunj from the next academic session so that the desirous students may get their training in Andaman itself. Sharma has further stated in his letter that the A & N Administration has already introduced many such streams which are useful to the students of these islands for their future prospects and hopes that his request for introducing the course of lab technician will be considered for the welfare of the students.
