Port Blair, Mar 12: A dead body was found this morning inside a petty shop, situated near Shalimar Hotel, Phoenix Bay. Sources said that the body was lying inside the empty shop for nearly two days. The nose busting smell of the rotting body forced people to peep inside the shop.
Residents of the area immediately informed the Chatham Police Station at 8 am this morning. The police team reached the spot and soon the body was sent for post mortem.
Later, the deceased was identified as Mr. Fakhir Mohammed, aged 55 years, who used to stay inside the shop alone. The body was later handed over to his family members for cremation.
