Port Blair, Mar 11: The Community Food and Nutrition Unit Port Blair in association with ICDS Urban project has celebrated International Women’s Day at Brichgunj Panchayat Hall today. The function was attended by Shri. Dinesh Ram, Up-Pradhan. He spoke about the importance of women’s empowerment and equal status of women in the society.
Principal of Govt. Middle School Smti. Umadevi spoke about the importance of educating the girl child. Speaking on the occasion CDPO Urban project Smti. Zarina Bibi elaborated on the schemes benefitting adolescent girls and elderly women. Demonstration Officer of CFNEU Port Blair Smti.Suma Sreedharan spoke about the importance of the day and gave various health tips.
Painting competition for adolescent girls and quiz competition for mothers were organized by local CFNEU on this occasion. Prizes were distributed to the winners to mark this occasion. The programme was attended by around 75 people of the area along with PRI members, ANM’s , Mukhya Sevikas and Aanganwadi workers, a release issued by Mrs. Suma Sreedharan, Demonstration Officer, CFNEU, Port Blair said here today.
