Port Blair, Mar 08: Mahila Congress celebrated International Women’s day as Women’s security day today at Gandhi Bhavan. Mr. Bhagat Singh, Chairman, ANS Coop Bank, a large number of women from every corner, PRI members, dignitaries and Party members were present in the programme.
PCC President Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma attended the programme as Chief Guest. Welcoming the Chief Guest dignitaries and the gatherings, Smti Shanta Singh, President, Mahila Congress stated many ways of women security.
She has also requested the Chief Guest for proper lights at all the bus stops, street lights at all the corners of the city and neighbourhood places and immediate constituting of women’s commission in A & N Islands.
In his speech, Mr. Hamid Ali,Vice President, AICC has informed the gatherings of many welfare measures resolved in the Jaipur AICC Confernece for the upliftment and security of Indian women. Hamid also told that the Congress Party is always there for all round upliftment and security of women. In these islands also the PCC chief has taken many initiative on these issues.
Giving a few examples, Hamid told that this was Kuldeep Rai Sharma only, who after meeting with the Lt Governor has got another hostel for the college girls to provide them security.
“This is he who has requested for positioning of lady Tehsildars for the welfare of women and as a vice chairman of ANS Cop Bank got introduced so many schemes for the women through the Bank,” he said.
On the issue of women security, Miss Mariyam Bibi, former ZP Adhyaksha told that women should never tolerate any type of violence on them rather they must unveil those culprits before the society and our Congress Party is there to fight for them. They have special power in them and they must bring that power out to fight against social evils. She also stressed for making themselves financially stable for which they must opt for constituting self help groups and involve in small business.
The Chairman ANS Coop Bank Mr. Bhagat Singh told that there are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a great competition and rivalry between the two but there is a third power stronger than both, that is women power and women have to know about this hidden power in them.
He has also stated about various welfare schemes he has approved for women as a Chairman of ANSCoop Bank. RV Reddy, Dist President also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma,Chief Guest and PCC President in his short speech has told that if we educate a man; we only educate that particular man but if we educate a woman we educate a generation as women are the architects of society. He has also stressed upon financial stability in womenfolk and told that since there is no scope of job any where, women must opt to constitute self help groups and earn their own livelihood.
Two minutes silence was observed for those noble souls who had been the victims of evil forces. Smti Zubaida Begum has conducted the programme. Baby Bala Karthika has presented two dance items while the lady members, smts Shanta Singh, Neelawati, Pushpanjali Raju, Vasanta, of the Party presented songs for the gatherings.
