Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 16: The Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration has participated with Andaman and Nicobar Football Association to promote NMBA initiatives through the AAC Football Cup 2024 tournaments with the theme “Say No To Drugs” on 11th October 2024 03:00 PM.
Mr. AKB, PO(JH) at the Directorate of Social Welfare highlighting the critical relationship between sports and addiction. He emphasized that sports are an effective way to stay away from addiction, as they benefit both the body and mind. Playing sports can foster discipline, teamwork, and goal-achieving abilities, while reducing the likelihood of turning to addiction. He called for the organization of various sports activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, such as competitions at schools, colleges, and panchayats. He encouraged building sports grounds and providing sports equipment to motivate young people to participate in sports. AKB concluded by highlighting the positive impact of sports on both physical and mental health, emphasizing that playing sports can boost self-confidence and make individuals more active & enthusiastic and distributed pamphlets to the officials and audience.

He underscored that drug abuse is not merely an individual problem but has a profound impact on families, communities, and society at large. Dr. Nitin Shakya emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive programs that prioritize not only rehabilitation but also prevention and awareness. He highlighted that when an individual falls victim to addiction, it’s not just their life that is at stake; the repercussions extend to their family, community, and society as a whole.
