Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 06: The month-long celebration of ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ by AYUSH Wing of DHS and A & N State AYUSH Society (NAM) culminated with the befitting valedictory function held at AYUSH Hospital, Junglighat on Oct.1,2024.The event was graced by Dr. Avijit Roy, Deputy Director (Health) DHS as the chief guest. Dr. Ajay Raj S, Professor and HOD, Deptt. of Community Medicines, ANIIMS and Mrs. Zareena Bibi, CDPO, (Urban Project), Social Welfare were the guests of honour. The programme was also witnessed by Doctors and Officials of Health Deptt., Social Welfare Deptt., TGCE, RBSK, ANM Training School, ANMs, ASHAs, mothers, children and winner of various competitions held during the month.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, commended the efforts of AYUSH for conducting various events and activities all over the Islands with a holistic approach. He explained in details the significance of nutrition in every stage of life.
Dr. Kalyan P Kadbhane, DD (AYUSH) emphasized on the key themes of this year and urged to encourage nutrition seeking behavior at both individual and community levels. Dr. Meena V Natkar, JRF (PPvC), presented a comprehensive report on the activities conducted by all the AYUSH Units across the UT during the entire month of September.
Mrs. Sareeka, Consultant (Nutrition & Health), Social Welfare, spoke on the topic ‘Millets in Diet’. A recipe competition was conducted on the theme ‘Millets in Diet’ among the AWWs. Certificates were distributed to the winners of the quiz competition and Recipe competition by the distinguished guests.
Earlier, Dr. Manabika Dutta, MO i/c (Homoeo) welcomed the gathering while Dr. Nandini, MO (Yoga & Naturopathy) proposed the vote of thanks. All the winners of quiz competition and recipe competition were awarded with certificates and cash prizes.
As part of the month long celebration, AYUSH conducted 23 Poshan Camps, 14 Healthy Food Exhibitions, 1 State Level Webinar, 3 Poshan Vatika (Nutrition gardens), 39 Awareness Talks, 5 TV/ Radio programmes and 31 Yoga Camps for the target population focusing on Anaemia, through various AYUSH Units across the UT in convergence with other line Departments.
