Diglipur, July 29: Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Diglipur organized a puja in the premises of Sri Sri Sita Ram Mandir, Naveen Nagar, to mark the celebration of “Lord Shiva Sawan Month” here in the morning hours today.
As per report, on the second day of the holy month of ‘Sawan’ month today, devotees flocked to the temple of Lord Shiva in the premises of Sri Sri Sita Ram Mandir, Naveen Nagar to partake in celebrations. To mark the occasion, the devotees were seen queuing up to worship Lord Shiva. The celebration featured a “Religious Kalash Yatra” procession which started from Sri Sri Sita Ram Mandir, Naveen Nagar and traversed Fish Market, Police Help Booth, Subhashgram Market, Dolphin Chowk, Police Station Diglipur and back to Sri Sri Sita Ram Mandir. A large number of devotees of Lord Shiva went to Kalpong River to fetch the holy water in pots before they commenced the yatra.
The auspicious Hindu festival of Sawan or Shravan began on July 22 this year. Devotees across India mark the first Monday of ‘Sawan’ with prayers and rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva, including offerings at temples and holy dips in rivers like the Ganga. This year, Shravan month started on a Monday, thus increasing the importance and auspiciousness of the sacred festival. It will end on August 19 this year, which is also a Monday. Sawan month, which will last 29 days this time, holds great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus.
