Port Blair, Jul 29: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder, has formally requested the Secretary of Health, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, for availing thyroid testing machines and qualified technicians at the Primary Health Centers (PHC) in Hutbay and R.K Pur.
In his letter, Mr. Halder highlights the significant challenges faced by the residents of Little Andaman, who currently have to travel to GB Pant Hospital for thyroid tests. This situation imposes considerable hardships, especially on the elderly, economically disadvantaged individuals, and those with limited access to transportation. The travel and waiting times lead to unnecessary stress and delays in receiving essential medical care.
He stated that, by equipping the Hutbay and R.K Pur PHCs with the necessary thyroid testing machines and trained technicians, the local population can benefit from timely and accurate diagnoses and treatments. This improvement will not only reduce the burden on patients but also enhance the overall healthcare services available to the residents of Little Andaman.
Mr. Halder appeal underscores the need for urgent intervention to ensure that these vital healthcare facilities are adequately equipped to significantly improve the quality of medical care and accessibility for the local community.
