Port Blair, July 7: With an objective of visual cleanliness and to sensitize the essence of safe and clean environment; the Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs spearheaded a Special Clean-up Drive across the rural jurisdiction covering all 70 Gram Panchayats on 6th July, 2024. This one day drive called on different stakeholders to come together, dedicate time and energy towards the nature’s cause for a clean and better Island ecosystem. The motto of the clean-up drive was “Neither Litter, nor let others litter”.
More than 5000 kgs of trash were recovered during the drive and sent for upward recycling. A large number of general public, civil society organizations, SHG members under the leadership of PRI members actively took part in the campaign.
The one day drive not only contributed to a cleaner environment but also fostered a sense of community and shared responsibility.
