Port Blair, Feb 25: Continuing with its crackdown on illegal activities, the A&N Police has busted a prostitution racket and arrested the Kingpin on Friday (22nd February). Altogether five persons have been arrested from the brothel running in the house of Smti Jharna Roy Choudhry near Dhanikahri Junction.
After gathering intelligence about the ongoing immoral activities at a brothel in Dhanikhari area, the Dy.S. P (South Andaman) Mr. Anyesh Roy led a team of PS Aberdeen comprising of ASI M. Abdul Rasheed, HC Sanajay Kujur, HC Sury Narayan, PCs, Ashish Mallick, Rakesh Toppo, Kumarswamy, M. Raja Rao, Neelmani Lakra, Kasila Devi and HG Chiranjivi alongwith SI T. Hemawathi SHO Humfrigunj to raid the brothel.
Before that, a trap was laid by sending a cop as a decoy customer. A deal was struck with the brothel owner. Soon after, the police party raided the house as per the plan and arrested the brothel owner, her assistant Prabhakar Mallick and three ladies from the spot under various sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
A case has been registered at PS Humfrugunj and further investigation is in progress. The police is keeping a strict vigil over anti-social and illegal activities in the Islands Public is requested to pass on any credible information on narcotics substances, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any other illegal activity on the following telephone numbers: 233077, 232400, 232405, 100 and 9434282817, 9474290250, 9474228912, 9476076192 & 9434279416. The informant will be rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret.
