Port Blair, Feb 25: Mr. B.P Ray, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands in his letter addressed to President of India has stated the problems faced by the people of Diglipur, North and Middle Andaman District which he saw during his recent visit to the place.
Mr. Ray informed the president that at present the farmers of Shanthi Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, Coffee Dera etc carry their farm products for sale through small dinghy via sea and these are unloaded at the temporary Ariel Bay Ghat. Mr Ray also informed the president that Lt. Governor had visited the site on request of the villagers and had directed the officers for construction of a dinghy ghat jetty near the Coast Guard but he added that the action taken thereafter is unknown.
Mr. Ray has also demanded for construction of a Permanent Dinghy Ghat Jetty at Ariel Bay in place of the temporary Dinghy Ghat Jetty.
