Port Blair, Feb 21: Some confusion has been created about the use of tinted glasses in motor vehicles as reported in a local daily. In continuation of police Press Release dated 18.02.2013 issued in respect of tinted glasses, it is reiterated by the police department that the Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 265 of 2011 has prohibited (27th April, 2012) the use of black films or any other material of any Visual Light Transmission (VLT) percentage upon the safety glasses, windscreens (front and rear) and side glasses of all vehicles. All owners/drivers of motor vehicles are hereby advised to conform with these directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
