
Port Blair, May 09: Aditya Natya Academy, Port Blair celebrated the 164th Birthday of Gurudev Rabindranath Thakur through a cultural get-together held in its premises here on 08th May 2024. Mr. Birendra Kishore Talukdar, Veteran Folk Singer of these Islands graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Mr. Chittaranjan Roy, Retired Teacher as well as Folk Drama Artist and Smt. Chandrani Mitra, Singer as well as Group Theatre Actress of West Bengal were present on the occasion as Special Guests.
At the outset, one minute’s silence was observed to pay homage to the departed soul of Partha Ghosh, renowned reciter. Thereafter, Mr. Ashutosh Karmakar, President of Aditya Natya Academy garlanded the portrait of Gurudev Rabindranath Thakur. In the felicitation part, ‘Muktadhara’, a local cultural organisation felicitated Smt. Chandrani Mitra (Singer from West Bengal). Aditya Natya Academy also honoured the Guest Artist.
The cultural get-together was clad with speech, presentation of Rabindra Sangeet and Rabindra-Kabita. The members of Aditya Natya Academy presented a Rabindra-Sangeet in chorus. Mr. Chittaranjan Roy spoke on the life and works of Gurudev. Rabindra-Sangeets were presented by Smt. Chandrani Mitra, Mr. Arup Roy, Mr. Birendra Kishore Talukdar and Master Sagnik Sarkar while Smt. Kaberi Debsharma, Shampa Sarkar and Mr. Nandalal Debsharma.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Anadi Ranjan Bhattacharjee, General Secretary of Aditya Natya Academy.
