
Port Blair, May 06: Motivated by Government of India initiatives and support, a few women living in and around Dollygunj Ward 17 have come forward with an unique mission Dollygunj Mahila Kuteer which is first of its kind in the islands to support talented and experienced women with different welfare activities under one roof of a private building. Dollygunj Mahila Kutter is a hub to provide suitable training, entrepreneurship to several talented and needy women, and simultaneously provide marketing and selling benefit by providing space in hired premises with all facilities like tables, wall racks, table cloths with frills, electricity with Power backup, drinking water, attached toilet facilities so that with these facilities, the women thus manufacture. There are 18 women in the team now. Products, or conduct resale/ trading or provide services need not depend on others every time. There are 18 women in the team headed by Mrs. M Purnima
The activities of the Dollygunj Mahila Kuteer commenced from 1st May 2024 near Lokenath Colony with working hours 1000 to 1300 and 1630-1930 This is an initiative supported and guided by The Islands Institute of Skill Development, Port Blair a communication said from M purnima team leader and coordinator for Dollygunj Mahila Kuteer.
