Port Blair, Apr 06: As part of the General Elections-2024, the SVEEP team of RO’s Office organized a Bike Rally to create awareness among the general public to participate in the Electoral process in a big way. The Chief Electoral Officer, ANIPC, Mr. B. S. Jaglan flagged off the Bike Rally from the historic National Memorial Cellular Jail in the presence of Nodal Officer for SVEEP Mr. Wairokpam Punshiba Singh, IAS.
The Bike Rally planned under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activity saw participation of good numbers of bikers with great enthusiasm with the tagline ‘Chunav Ka Parv-Desh ka Garv’ and with message ‘I will Vote for Sure’. The rally which started from Cellular Jail passed through Clock Tower, Goal Ghar, Dairy Farm, Junction, Bathu Basti, Prothrapur, Austinabad, Corbyn’s Cove and culminated at the Flag Point. During the rally, a message was disseminated to the voters to exercise their franchise in a big way during the forthcoming Election-2024 to celebrate the right to vote.
SVEEP is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. It is a multi-intervention programme that reaches out through different modes and media to educate citizens, electors, and voters about the electoral process in order to increase their awareness and promote their informed participation.
