It is with great pride and anticipation, this year, our nation commemorates the 61st National Maritime Day, under the theme “Sustainable Shipping: Challenges and Opportunities.”
The maritime sector serves as a vital artery of our nation’s economy and connectivity. However, it also presents formidable challenges, particularly concerning environmental sustainability. Therefore, it is imperative that we embrace this year’s theme wholeheartedly.
In light of this, I urge all stakeholders within the maritime industry – from policymakers and industry leaders to maritime professionals and environmental advocates – to come together in addressing the pressing challenges of sustainable shipping. Let us seize the opportunities for innovation and collaboration to build a greener, more resilient maritime sector for the future.
I am committed to supporting initiatives that promote sustainability, reduce carbon emissions, and protect our precious marine ecosystems. Together, let us chart a course towards a brighter, more sustainable future for our maritime industry for generations to come.
