Port Blair, Feb 11: Acting swiftly on secret information about sale of porn movie CDs from a shop situated at Vegetable Market near Ganesh Temple, Dairy Farm, a police team led by SHO PS Aberdeen Inspr. D. Jagdishwar Rao, alongwith the staff of Anti-Burglary Squad comprising of ASI M. Abdul Rasheed, HC Sanjay Kujur, HC Surya Narayan, PC Ashish Mallick, PC Rakesh Toppo, PC Mohan Kumar and PC M. Raja Rao raided a shop at Dairy farm and seized a big haul of pornographic Compact Discs and Computer hardware used for making copies of such CDs. The persons selling the pornographic CDs have been identified as one K. Thumbanathan.
On further enquiry about the source of these pornographic videos, he disclosed that during the month of December, 2012 he brought master copies of porn CDs from Chennai into these Islands and made duplicate copies of the same for sale. Upon this, a case vide Crime No. 49/13, dated 09/02/13, u/s 292 IPC has been registered at PS Aberdeen and the accused person (owner of the shop) K. Thumbanathan, (37) yrs. Line Man PBMC, r/o Dairy Farm has been arrested for selling porn Video CDs. The recovered porn CDs, CD/DVD writer, Computer system and other accessories have been seized from the shop.
“The Police is keeping a strict vigil over anti- social and illegal activities in these Islands. Public is requested to pass on any credible information on narcotics substances, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any other illegal activity on the following telephone numbers: 233077, 232400, 232405, 100 and 9434282817. The informant will be rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret,” a press release issued by SP (South Andaman) said here today.
