Port Blair, Feb 28: A devastating fire engulfed the wooden house of 92-year-old lady Mrs. Satyabama in Padmanabhapuram village, Shivapuram Panchayat, yesterday evening around 7:00 pm. Believed to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, the fire swiftly reduced the house to ashes.
The Fire Brigade was alerted at 7:06 pm, prompting the rapid response of one fire tender from FS BilliGround which came with three trained Fire Mitras from the same location, alongside another fire tender from FS Rangat. The coordinated efforts of the firefighters, aided by the presence of police, PRI representatives, and administration officials, managed to extinguish the blaze.
Thankfully, there were no reported injuries or casualties. Former MP Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray also lent his support at the scene. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the actual cause of the fire, while the affected family received support in this challenging time.
