Port Blair, Feb 19: The Directorate of Social Welfare spearheaded an innovative program, Awareness cum Fitness Programme (Hasgulla Club), under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign). Taking a novel approach to combating substance abuse, the program intertwines physical fitness with the joyous nature of laughter, creating a unique therapeutic experience.
The 24th Awareness Cum Fitness Program took place at Joggers Park from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM last Sunday, inviting locals to participate in a refreshing morning routine. The session, which successfully engaged 20 beneficiaries, was expertly guided by Mr. Ravinder Rao, a teacher renowned for his expertise in the “Art of Living.”
Gracing the event, Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), elucidated the multifaceted benefits of Yoga and meditation, placing special emphasis on their pivotal role in the management of elderly health. He underscored the importance of leveraging life experiences to maintain and enhance one’s health through activities tailored to the needs of aging individuals..
The Directorate of Social Welfare invites all interested individuals to join the “Hasgulla Club” programme and take advantage of the fitness and awareness activities offered. This is a fantastic opportunity for community members to improve their physical health and gain valuable insights into leading a balanced lifestyle. Drug Awareness cum Fitness programme will be conducted every Sunday at Joggers Park from morning 6.00 AM till 7.30 AM for the general public till the month of March.
