Port Blair, Feb19: Yesterday evening, on February 18, 2024, an unfortunate incident unfolded at Gol Tikrey area of Kamorta Island, where an airgun pellet injured an STS DRM during an interaction with a friend who was holding a loaded Air Gun. Both individuals involved work in the STS department.
According to reports, the accused was reportedly attempting to repair his airgun, which had a tendency to self-fire. At the time, the victim approached him, and they engaged in conversation. During their interaction, the barrel of the airgun, which was in the accused’s hand, accidentally turned towards the victim and discharged, causing the pellet to strike him.
The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and this morning he was shifted to GB Pant Hospital for medical treatment, where doctors are currently assessing the situation. Fortunately, medical professionals have indicated that there is no immediate threat to the victim’s life, sources said .
The accused has been identified as Mr. Aldrin, aged 31, while the victim is identified as Mr. M. Vijay Kumar, aged 27. The incident has been reported to Police and an FIR has been registered at PS Nancowry to investigate the matter further. Further details are awaited.
