Port Blair, Feb 09: The three day workshop on “impact assessment and capacity building for AIR Kisanvani and DD Kisan / Krishi Darshan Programme Producers” representing the South Eastern States of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Union Territories and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Pondicherry conducted in CIARI, Port Blair from 07.02.2024 to 09.02.2024 has been concluded. The workshop was organized by the Farm & Home Unit of the Directorate General of AIR in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Government of India.
Apart from appraising the performance of each participating station, various interactive sessions were held for impact assessment and capacity building for Improvement of programmes. As Part of the workshop the Participants visited CIARI-KVK, State Agriculture Farm at Sippighat and Organic Farm of Padma Shree Nominee Mrs. K Challamal at Rangachang no. 5 Burmanalla, Port Blair.
Earlier on inaugurating the workshop, Dr. Satyendra Singh Dursawat, Secretary (Agriculture) stressed the role of Mass media especially Akashvani-Kisanvani and DD Kisan in decimating information about various schemes launched by Central Government to the grass root level and thereby benefiting the farmers at large.
Delivering the keynote address Mr. Deepak Joshi, DDG Policy, DG Akashvani. Pointed out the importance of this workshop in improving the quality of Akashvani& DD Programmes and thereby helping the farming community to reap the benefits of various schemes undertaken by the central government. Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture GOI, Dr. Y.R. Meena, Additional Commissioner (Extn) and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Ingle, Joint Director (Mass Media) were among dignitaries who participated in various brainstorming sessions. Dr. Y.R. Meena asked the participants to dwell upon various methods to educate the farmers and rural folk about different schemes being implemented by the Ministry so that it reaches the end beneficiaries and empowering them. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Ingle pointed out the role of mass media in disseminating information on various central schemes so as to help the ministry to formulate policies to implement them in consonance with various stakeholders including State Governments. He also emphasized the need for increasing the production of pulses in the country and called upon participants to take this message to the farming community in their respective States.
Dr, E. B. Chakurkar, Director ICAR- CIARI, Port Blair, Mr. Manoj Gupta, DDG PBS (Nodal Officer) also spoke on the occasion, Dr. K.C. Sinha, ADP (F & H / Policy) DG Akashvani, Dr. Gunjan Bhatnagar, ADP DD Kisan, Dr. P.K. Singh, HoD Department of Horticulture, CIARI, Mr. Abdul Salam, Asst. Director Fishers A & N Administration, Dr. Namratha Singh, PEX DD Kisan, Ms. Adilakshmi, Agriculture Assistant of Agriculture Department also talked on various topics, Mr.VijendraSajwan, PEX (F & H / Policy) was the coordinator of the workshop and Mrs. Meena Parkash HOP, Akashvani and DDK Port Blair earlier welcomed the dignitaries and participants.
Progressive Farmers Including Padma Shree Nominee Mrs. K Challamal were felicitated at the valedictory function of the workshop.
