Port Blair, Feb 06: Mr. Vishal Jolly, State President, BJP today warned the A&N Administration that if it fails to take remedial steps to address the problems that islanders are facing then BJP will plan for a very big agitation throughout the Islands.
State President, BJP highlighted a number of issues including the Buffer Zone issue because of which ATR passing through the Jarawa Reserve area is now closed for the tourists. He said because of this Baratang a very famous tourist destination has become inaccessible to tourists resulting in unemployment of local youths engaged in tourism, he said this while addressing the Working Committee
Meeting today at Dairy Farm Community hall.
The issue of capping of the LPG cylinders also found an important place in his presidential address speaking on the issue Mr. Jolly said that “The Congress Govt. has capped the number of subsidized LPG cylinders to six and further for political reasons they have increase it to nine. This step has put the general public in great Hardship. I strongly condemn capping of subsidized LPG.” He further added that the capping on LPG is ending the tradition of the old joint family system and is forcing people to separate out of their families.
Mr. Jolly further reminded the islanders that during the reign of Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee led BJP Govt. Port Blair airport was declared as a international airport but now ten years have passed congress Govt. coming in power but still airport is not opened for foreign aircrafts. He further stated that Vajpayee Govt. had declared the ATR running from Chidiyatapu to Diglipur as National Highway but the present Govt. now under influence of foreign pressure is planning to close it.
The issue of Viper Island was also raised in the meeting and on this Mr.. Vishal said that BJP will not allow commercialization of this island at any cost. President BJP also raised demands for building bridges between Chatam and Bambooflat and also one at Middle Strait and other at Uttara.
He concluded his presidential speech by demanding for assembly for the islands and by requesting the party workers to work for the development of these Islands and for the nation. On the occasion of the works Committee Meeting, BJP also declared their yearly plan and also launched a website for the Andaman and Nicobar BJP Division which can be accessed by the general public by logging on to WWW.bjpani.org.
