Port Blair, Jan 24: In a swift and coordinated effort, the police team of Humpherygunj Police Station, along with vigilant villagers, successfully located three missing minor girls within six hours early this morning. The girls, students residing under the jurisdiction of the Humpherygunj police station, did not return home from school on 23rd January 2024.
As per the public, upon discovering that the girls did not return home, parents and relatives reported their absence to the police station. In response, the police station team, headed by SHO Humpherygunj Police Station, SI Mohan Rao with the assistance of concerned villagers, initiated a prompt search operation.
The search extended into the jungle behind the school where the minor girls were last seen. Throughout the night, the police team and local villagers intensively combed the jungle without any break. Finally, in the early hours of the morning, the missing girls were located within the dense foliage of the Humpherygunj jungle.
The girls, who were found in good health, were later given proper counselling by the Child Protection unit and Police team and later they were reunited with their families. The collaborative efforts of the police and the proactive involvement of the villagers played a crucial role in the successful resolution of this incident. Villagers of the area lauded the efforts of the team of Humpherygunj Police Station. As per villagers the minor girls took this steps as they were unhappy with their parents for preventing them to go out and use mobile phones.
